the challenge

The Experience Fitness is “a gym for all” and is the only openly LGBTQ+ and couple-owned gym in Hillcrest, San Diego. They primarily serve all individuals under the LGBTQIA+ spectrum and proud allies and they are committed to providing a safe space where their team can motivate, inspire, and guide individuals to achieve their personal goals. 

While their in-person brand presence is bold and authentic, their old website failed to communicate their personality and unique story effectively.

Furthermore, their old site was living on an outdated platform that was difficult to maintain and update. And their onboarding process was clunky and disjointed. 

the solution

To better understand the gym, we decided to visit the physical space, and right when we stepped in, we felt immediately welcomed. Typically, when you walk into a new gym, you feel a bit intimidated, but this wasn’t the case. You were walking into a family get-together, and that was the exact feeling we wanted to capture with their new website. 

After a deep dive into The Experience and its owners, we drew significant inspiration from the gym’s colorful walls and its brand values of being a safe space, inclusive, down-to-earth, and quirky. The goal of the website was to tell The Experiences’ story in a seamless, dynamic, and authentic way by using fun scroll interactions and beautiful photos.

By migrating the entire site to Webflow, we improved performance and gave their team a flexible platform they could easily manage without compromising the design. 

As we discussed the team’s site pain points, we learned that their onboarding process did not serve them. As a solution, we used Make.com to automate the entire process —from signing contracts, receiving an automated Welcome Email, to registering for classes.

By redesigning The Experience Fitness’s website and integrating an automated process, we helped them create a more personable, engaging, and unique digital presence. The new site not only reflected their vibrant and inclusive brand identity and values, but also made it easier than ever for new members to join and participate in The Experiences' beautiful community.
